A NEW TIME,
A
NEW START
.
AND GREAT NEW OBJECTIVES
ROB SMITH,
TPLI, TCI
TALI
Certification Chairman
First let me congratulate Randy Kildow, our newly
elected TALI President and all of the members that will serve
on the new Board of Directors as our professional
association's leadership for the coming year. I personally
appreciate our president's confidence in my designation to
continue as the Chairman of the Certification Committee for
TALI. Certainly
my efforts would not have been possible without the dedicated
and diligent efforts over the past several years of our TCI
Vice-Chairperson, Carol Tharp. As in the history of
our TCI program, Randy was supportive of my choice to
establish a liaison with a specific board member to take an
active part in our plans and activities. I am very appreciative
of Kelly Riddle for accepting this position, which received
Randy's total endorsement and support.
We will be making a few new changes on the TCI
Committee this year due to changes in responsibilities in
other areas of TALI and personal requests by some of those
individuals that have served the past few years so unselfishly
and will now move on to new and more challenging opportunities
with TALI. These
announcements will be forth coming prior to the first Board of
Directors meeting in September and at which time also a formal
TCI Committee planning session will be
conducted.
You can look for at least three new projects to be
initiated prior to the end of this year. First, this will
involve the expansion of TALI member participation and
developing more candidates for certification. Second, a Marketing
effort formulated by Board Member (Liaison) Kelly Riddle,
working with the committee to enhance the image in many areas
of the legal community and general public as to what a Texas
Certified Investigator may represent to their particular
interest.
Additionally a year long project that has been only in
the planning stages to date, that will provide a TCI Directory
including BIO and pertinent information reflecting each TALI
Certified Investigator and the special training, experience
and services that can be provided to a client that are located
in specific geographic areas as required by their
investigative needs.
The last of these projects is still in the planning
stages and with apparent strong support of our president,
executive administrator and others consulted about the
feasibility of such an effort. This will essentially
be in the form of what you would refer to as a "TALI
INFOMERCIAL" produced on a quality DVD and used for the best
interest of present and future TALI membership efforts. It will use many faces
and promote so many of the benefits now available to our
association.
EVERYONE targeted to receive a copy of this "Video"
will see a "Knock Your Socks Off!" effort to promote TALI and
the many advantages of professional membership in this top
Investigative Association in our nation at any
level.
With a fresh approach to our objectives and new ideas
and enthusiasm
from not only some new committee members but especially
our influx of new TCIs that have come to the program over the
past two years, we expect to take several "giant steps"
forward in the near future. More TCIs will be
called upon to actively support and respond with real efforts
to make our goals a reality. The phrase here must
be emphasized.
WE WANT MORE INDIVIDUAL ACTIVE PARTICIPATION AND WE
WILL BE CALLING ON YOU TO STEP-UP AND SPEAK- UP! This message is
coming from all levels including the President, the Board of
Directors and Committee Chairs within
TALI.
Let me recognize the four new TCI Candidates
that just completed their Certification process at the Super
Conference in July.
They are Amy
Halbrook - Little
Elm. Adriene
Anderson - Houston,
Edmond
Martin - Austin,
and Abby
Golman - Dallas. Their "oral" exam
context was sometimes different, but especially impressive to
the seven TCI's which were evaluating that segment of the
process.
Congratulations to all of you for a diligent and
terrific result from the obvious efforts put forth on your
preparation and use of the study
guide.
We are
proud to have over 40 plus TALI members that are now active in
our professional organization's certification program
recognized around the state, nationally and
internationally. This number is expected to grow rapidly
with our new goals and objectives to improve participation,
but even more important, the quality of recognized
competency. We
realize that the TCI designation is not a program that all
investigators have a desire to be a participant. This is
not a separate organization or group that wishes to have their
own "Club." These investigators have a desire and goal
for their self-satisfaction, by expanding the scope of their
investigative knowledge and competence and they are willing to
expend enough effort that satisfies that challenge. It
does not mean they should or expect to be considered better
than another investigator, but that they simply understand
their willingness to put additional effort into
having their abilities and professionalism recognized by
their peers and clients. Unless you make an attempt to
explore the benefits of this program, you may never know what
you might be missing.
I considered the 2007 Super Conference in Irving
very inspiring and motivational where several of our members
expressed an interest in becoming certified. I say that because of
all the new TALI member faces that were in attendance for
their first time and I believe several new TCI Candidates will
come from the many contacts with years of experience as
licensed investigators but are new to TALI. We were able to
initiate interest among several of those investigators and
already the sign-ups have begun. These Candidates will now
begin the process and will be actively in pursuit of their TCI
designation during the coming months.
We look forward to a successful TCI
recruiting and certification year in 2007 - 08 and all TCIs
are strongly encouraged to participate. You may go
